VentnorVentnor is a sun trap bay sheltered by high cliffs on which the terraced town is built, dubbed "Englands Madeira" by the Victorians, with a good selections of shops and cafes. A steep road winds down from the town past the famous cascade gardens to the seafront. Ventnor is suitable for families of all ages and is popular with residents and visitors alike.
In addition to the beach, activities and shops, there is The Botanic Garden an ideal setting for family picnics as it includes a children's play area adjoining picnic sites, ball games area and access to coastal paths. The Visitor Centre houses the palm court cafe, gift shop exhibition centre and a horticultural reference library, and lifts allow easier access into the heart of the garden. The Greenhouse displays plant sales. The Gardens, Exotic themes from around the world in 23 acres. ShanklinShanklin beach is famous for its sandy beach and safe bathing areas. Beach activities cater for all tastes with the Towns amenities and centre close by. Shanklin has something for everyone, award winning beaches, traditional beach-side entertainment, theatres, the picturesque thatched old village, the Chine, and Rylstone Gardens with its flower displays and open air band concerts. Cars and bikes can be hired locally and jet skis and wind surfing equipment and tuition is available from the local water sports centre. The seafront also offers arcades, cafes and several miniature golf courses. The town itself offers a pleasant shopping area and numerous opportunities for eating out. |
